Almost Over

School is almost over and I have been thinking about what I have learned this year.  I have learned much more about life and the way the world works then I ever expected to.  I have learned that college is not simply an academic learning ground, just like everything else in life there are always secondary lessons to be learned.  Among many of my lessons learned on the hallowed grounds of Ball Sate University I believe that honesty is one of the most valued lessons.

My parents always taught my to be honest and forthright and I have done my very best to be that kind of person.  In high school I knew a few people who were not completely honest or forthright, but were over all good people who tried hard in what they did.  When I came to Ball State my entire outlook on people changed.  People are liars.  People are cheaters.  People are mean and malicious and for the most part care about nothing but themselves.  So many people who are fake and completely unreal simply to get ahead in life, or in some cases just because they have been raised to be this way astound me!  Call me naive, but I assumed that everyone but corporate lawyers and politicians were honest and hardworking people.  I don't understand how students just don't do assignments or skip class.  What other purpose do they have here then to learn?

After my first discovery of non-honest people I became hardened and decided not to trust anyone, but that is not the kind of person I am.  I have found my medium and now I have been able to determine who to find trustworthy and who not to trust.  With so many lessons this year I have also found the importance of friendship.  With the year almost out I wonder what the summer will hold for me.  I also wonder when time all of a sudden became so untamable.  Time skips by at a rate almost incomprehensible sometimes and that is how this year feels.  I cannot wait for next year.
