We live in a world in which
everything is fast paced. We have the world at our fingertips
with the double click of a mouse within 2 maybe 3 seconds. We use
speed dial, instead of actually dialing the phone number of a
friend. We use email and instant message instead of letters and
calling someone on the phone. We live in the high tech,
high-speed world in which slow is inept and outdated. How many
people stop on campus and just look around? You can sit at the
bus stop and watch the people walk by talking on their cell phones,
listening to their iPods, reading the newspaper all of them too busy to
take a look around and see the beauty of nature.
When was the last time you just stopped and took a look around
you? Do you find happiness in the smallest most insignificant
thing in life? We should be using our laptops and iPods to
enhance our lives, not take over our lives. I try to get outside
and take walks, bikes rides, and do outdoor activities as often as I
can but I know so many people wh o would
rather spend a nice day inside on their computers or watching TV or
playing video games. I love you camp and hike and canoe but I
know that many of the people I know, including my own mother, deem the
outdoors as something to be viewed from inside a nice cozy hotel
room. I don't understand why people just can't enjoy life.
Why can't people just slow down and enjoy the simple things in life?
Why can't people just see a pretty little flower and smile and be
happy? People need to stop being in such a rush and slow down and
enjoy life! People need to learn to smile because they saw a rare
bird, not just because they downloaded a new song on their iPod.
