An Awkward Introduction

This is my first entry in what I am calling my English Blog.  Were supposed to be writing about what’s been going on in class and our thoughts but honestly not a whole lot has been going on in class so I think I will just give a quick overview of my week.  I had a job interview on Monday at the shoe store in our mall, Shoe Source. I was really excited because I had just turned in the application on Thursday. I got to talk to my fiancé, who is serving in Iraq at the moment, for almost a half hour on Monday as well. It’s a rare privilege for me to get to talk to him for so long. They keep him really busy over there and communication is not the best. So between not having any class, having a job interview, and getting to talk to Jason I would have to qualify Monday as being an over all good day.

Tuesday was not bad either. I got a call from the candy store in the mall about a job interview for today, Wednesday. Shortly after that I received a phone call from the manager of the shoe store offering me the job I had interviewed for on Monday. I was really excited and obviously took it and I start that on next Tuesday! After a short celebration with my friends and a late lunch with one of my cousins, whom I had not seen in a few years, I ended the day with a really boring floor meeting and tons of reading for my classes today.  I guess I would have to say that Tuesday was a fairly decent day as well.

Today has been long. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I have four to five classes.  Its a long and tedious day but at least I get to relax a bit on Tuesdays and Thursdays since I only have one short morning class. Tomorrow is going to be no fun though since I have a dentist appointment in the afternoon. I try to take good care of my teeth but evidently I have failed as of late and I am getting a cavity fixed tomorrow.  I guess that means I have to do all my homework and reading that’s due Friday tonight since I have a feeling I am going to be in some pain tomorrow evening and not feel up to doing any homework.

No big plans for the weekend. I normally hang out with my friends. Sometimes we play cards or just watch movies. I am really excited about my job starting next week and I hope I hear from Jason soon so I can tell him the exciting news.  I am hoping that having a job will make time go a whole lot quicker.  It’s really hard sometimes, especially on the weekends, to have my fiancé so far away and to have so little communication with him. I am glad that they are cutting his tour short and he will be home seven months early! So now its five months down, eight more to go!

Over all I am really enjoying my classes. It’s nice how most of the material covered in my classes over lap in some way or another. I guess it does not hurt that I am taking mainly history classes and geography classes. I am really interested in delving deeper into this course as well. I love reading but with how much required class reading there is in college I have been neglecting all the awesome novels I have gotten for Christmas and my birthday. Hopefully I will hit a lull in the class reading here soon and I can catch up on my novels. It would be even better if we read some good novels in this class, but I don't know if we will. Honestly I don't know what to expect from this class because I got a four on my A.P. exams and I tested out of English 103, so this is really my first college English course. I am a little nervous but I am hopeful that this will be a class that I really enjoy.

Well I believe that’s all I have to say for now. I hope you all have a wonderful week and enjoy the beautiful snow!
